My Contributions:

  • Collaborated on the website design to create a clean, user-friendly layout that highlights the coffee shop’s story, menu, and location.

  • Implemented SEO best practices, including keyword research, meta descriptions, and optimized on-page content to increase visibility for local search queries such as “coffee shop in Cebu City.”

  • Improved site structure and navigation to enhance user experience and encourage customer engagement.

  • Assisted in setting up basic analytics to track traffic and performance.

Impact:
The optimized site has helped Norcal Coffee establish an online presence in Cebu’s competitive coffee scene, making it easier for customers to discover the shop, learn about its offerings, and visit in person.

From Strategy to Results: SEO Rankings of My Personal Website

First Subdomain GA report
SC report of my first personal website

On my first personal website, BrandoleeModequillo.PinoySEO.ph, I gained hands-on experience applying core SEO strategies such as keyword research, on-page optimization, and content structuring. I also implemented technical improvements to enhance site performance and user experience. Using Google Analytics, I tracked traffic behavior, monitored keyword rankings, and measured the overall impact of my SEO efforts on visibility and engagement.

This project was a valuable foundation for my SEO journey, as it allowed me to test, analyze, and refine strategies in a real-world setting. Since the website was hosted on a subdomain, it eventually encountered malware issues, which required migrating to a new hosting provider. That experience gave me additional exposure to website security, hosting management, and migration processes, skills that further strengthened my understanding of SEO beyond just content and rankings.

Key Results (via Google Analytics)

  • Total Sessions: 93

  • Engaged Sessions: 42 (45.16% engagement rate)

  • Average Engagement Time: 13 seconds per session

  • Events Tracked: 521 total, with an average of 5.60 events per session

Traffic Channels:

  • Organic Search: 66 sessions (70.97% of total), 48.48% engagement rate, 13s avg. engagement time, 396 events (76.01%)

  • Direct: 22 sessions (23.66%), 27.27% engagement rate, 4s avg. engagement time, 84 events (16.12%)

  • Organic Social: 5 sessions (5.38%), highest engagement rate at 80%, 53s avg. engagement time, 41 events (7.87%)

Overall, this first personal project not only demonstrated my ability to optimize a website from the ground up but also taught me how to use data-driven insights and technical problem-solving to sustain growth and adapt to challenges.

Note: I mentioned that this was my first personal website because I was later given another one. The original site, hosted on a subdomain, encountered malware issues, which required us to migrate it to a new hosting provider.

Personal Website 2.0: Rebuilt, Secured, and Optimized

On my second personal website brandoleemodequillo.pinoyseosites.com, I applied advanced SEO strategies while continuously monitoring performance through Google Analytics. This site was built after migrating from my first subdomain, which encountered malware issues. The migration gave me hands-on experience in website security, hosting management, and technical troubleshooting, in addition to my growing expertise in SEO and WordPress optimization.

I focused on strengthening site security, improving technical performance, and implementing on-page SEO through keyword research, content optimization, and meta data improvements. By integrating analytics tracking, I was able to measure real user behavior, identify traffic sources, and evaluate engagement levels to refine strategies over time.

Key Results (via Google Analytics)

  • Total Sessions: 56

  • Engaged Sessions: 35 (62.5% engagement rate)

  • Average Engagement Time: 40 seconds per session

  • Events Tracked: 394 total, with an average of 7.04 events per session

Traffic Sources:

  • Direct traffic: 49 sessions (87.5%), 61.22% engagement rate, 42s avg. engagement time

  • Organic search (Google): 4 sessions (7.14%), 75% engagement rate, 44s avg. engagement time

  • Referral traffic (Facebook): 3 sessions (5.36%), 66.67% engagement rate, but only 1s avg. engagement time

Impact & Learnings

This project highlights my ability to not only design and optimize websites but also to track, analyze, and interpret performance data using Google Analytics. The results show that SEO optimizations successfully drove the majority of traffic from organic search, while social media, though smaller in volume, delivered highly engaged visitors. Direct traffic, on the other hand, revealed opportunities to improve branding and user retention.

Overall, this project demonstrates my capacity to apply SEO strategies, monitor growth with analytics, and make data-driven decisions to enhance visibility, engagement, and long-term website performance.
